It looks like trophies are just things of the past for Unbox, as they unveiled the championship belt for the 100K Modern MTG tournament winner.

In a facebook post, Carlo Ople, Unbox’s founder, revealed all the details about the upcoming tournament. He also revealed that the champion of this tournament will not only receive cash prizes but will also take home a championship belt.

“Mas maangas daw championship belt kesa trophy so… sige! ” (People said it’s cooler to have a championship belt than trophy so) Carlo Ople jested.

He also revealed the prize distribution for the Php 100,000 (~$2,000) prize pool. The champion will take home Php 30,000 and a championship belt while the second place will win Php 15,000. The third and fourth place will both get Php 9,500 while the fifth to eight place will go home with Php 5,000 each. The ninth to 16th place on the other hand will get Php 2,000 each.

Participants who won’t make it to the top cut will also win something for participating the event. According to Carlo, each participants will get freebies based on your registration tier. Normal players will get a tournament kit that contains a note pad and a pen, P100 gift certificates from Hobby Hive and The Men’s Room, and a Special event Treasure token designed by SNK ATK Design Lab.

VIP players however will get their exclusive table, playmat by CHANO, Unbox goodie bag, and unlimited iced tea in addition to the freebies.

The tournament will be on January 29, 2023 and will be happening in Upper Box, Carlo Ople’s Hobby Shop in Greenhills Shopping Center. Registration is still open for interested players and you can register by clicking on this link.
