UPDATE: The Quadruple Flagship Battle is now down to Triple as Whistletoys decided to pull out from the event, according to Ariel Pernia II. With Whistletoys gone, the event must cut its maximum slots of 128 down to 96 players. Ariel added that the 96 players will be randomly seeded in three separate 32-player brackets, and each bracket will represent a partner shop. Games will still be played at Eastwood.
The Philippines’ supposedly biggest One Piece Card Game tournament, the combined Quadruple Flagship Battle, has been canceled due to conflict with Bandai rulings.
The tournament was set to be organized by Toy Shogun in partnership with Scry Games, Whistletoys, and Pop! Culture Community was announced as the largest Flagship Battle in the Philippines, offering prizes and slot allocation like never before. They did so by combining all of their prize and slot allocation to create a bigger Flagship Battle.
According to Ariel Pernia II, Toy Shogun’s co-owner and tournament organizer, Bandai called their move to pool all their prize and slot allocation. The game’s creator and publisher put their foot down on the 32-player cap per Flagship Battle rule and the event’s standard prize structure, so the shops must do their Flagship Battles brackets separately.
However, despite canceling the combined Flagship Battle, Ariel said they will still honor the list of the 128 registered players. The players will be distributed to four separate 32-player brackets representing each shop.
The details of how the players will be distributed are still unknown.
The tournament will still take place on March 26 at Eastwood Citywalk Libis and will feature not only the One Piece Card Game but also Flesh and Blood, Pokemon, Alpha Clash TCG, and Yu-Gi-Oh card games.
