Recently, Bandai, the publisher of the One Piece Card Game, has announced that two characters, Moby Dick and Cabaji, will be banned from future tournament play due to concerns about their effects on the balance of the game.
What are the banned cards in OPCG?

Moby Dick, one of the main cards of the Whitebeard decks, is now banned by April 1. In the card game, it has the ability to buff all the whitebeard pirates additional 2000 power. According to Bandai, the combination of Whitebeard’s ability and Moby Dick’s supposedly “disadvantage” of activating only when the player is down to one life is too strong. They also added that with the existence of the OP-03 Izou, the consistency of getting Moby Dick increased significantly. This move will greatly cripple the Whitebeard decks and will definitely affect its position in the meta.

What’s more surprising is that Bandai banned Cabaji, a draw component of Nami decks. According to the announcement, the team decided to ban Cabaji due to it “promoting” winning without attacking. This is a big problem for Nami users because it decreases the base draw power of Nami from 12 cards to 8.
Ultimately, Bandai’s decision to ban Moby Dick and Cabaji is likely motivated by a desire to maintain the health and viability of the One Piece Card Game as a competitive and engaging experience. While it may disappoint some fans in the short term, it is a responsible and necessary step to ensure the long-term success of the game.
