Amato defeated Nukesaku in the finals of the One Piece Trading Card Game Championship 2023 Preliminaries on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Amato used a Whitebeard deck, while Nukesaku used a Queen deck.
Amatos’ winning deck:
Nukesaku’s Queen
The match was close throughout, with both players trading blows. However, Amato was able to pull ahead in the late game due to the nature of the decks. In the earlier turn before the last, Queen’s biggest flaw was highlighted as Nukesaku needed to play a lot of his cards just to make his card count fit Queen’s ability. He even played a 1-cost Law blocker in front of two 9c Whitebeard just to make it work.
In the final turn, Amato closed the deal thanks to the combination of Ace’s and 9c Whitebeard’s ability. Amato’s Whitebeard’s ability was able to clean up Nukesaku’s 3 blockers and barrage through Nukesaku’s defense. With this win, Amato has qualified for the One Piece Trading Card Game World Championship, which will be held in Japan later this year.
